Pink Street Featured in The New York Times
The New York Times has nominated its favourite streets from 12 European cities.
Lisboa is part of the selection with its famous Rua Nova do Carvalho in Cais do Sodré, best known as Rua Cor-de-Rosa.
In this list compiled with the help of its readers, the newspaper explains that "for decades, prostitutes and sinners were the main inhabitants of Rua Nova do Carvalho.
Today the street is closed to traffic and is painted with a cheerful 'pink mask'," hence becoming known, especially by foreigners, as "Pink Street".
The article states that now, this is "Lisboa's liveliest street for nightlife, with bars that provide plenty of entertainment."
The list's author has also written a brief overview about the different places we can discover when visiting this part of the city.
